Syrian Refugee Sponsorship
Knox’s Syrian Refugee Support Committee with the approval of Knox’s Session, are working with St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church and First Baptist to bring a Syrian Refugee family to Guelph. Our Federal Government has been putting the necessary services in place, and organizing transportation for thousands of refugees.
You can help by providing funds. Suggested target -- $25,000. Make out your cheque to “Knox Presbyterian Church” and on your envelope and your cheque memo write “Syrian Refugee Sponsorship.” Should we receive more money than is required for one family, we will either support a second family or direct the money to assist refugees who are currently living in refugee camps. If we need help in other ways to support our refugee family, we will send out an SOS through our congregational email.
Presbyterian World Service and Development (PWS&D) website:
The Presbyterian Church in Canada is an official Sponsorship Agreement Holder with citizenship and Immigration Canada. This enables Presbyterian congregations to sponsor refugees to resettle in Canada. PWS&D advocates for refugees through a number of Canadian Advocacy groups, including the Canadian Council for Refugees.
